Hello and welcome to the Curatorial Compass!
Hello, I’m Alexandra. I am a museum curator and cultural historian with a Master of Art Curatorship from the University of Melbourne. I am currently the Collections Curator at Latrobe Regional Gallery, and previously held the position of Museum Manager and Curator at the Women’s Museum of Australia and Old Gaol in Alice Springs.
My curatorial practice is shaped by a deep interest in history, art, and architecture, and enriched by extensive travel across 24 countries and 30 U.S. states. These experiences continue to inspire how I approach storytelling within museum spaces, through exhibitions, design, and public programs that connect diverse audiences to culture and heritage.
I have worked across seven museums, including Latrobe Regional Gallery, the Women’s Museum of Australia and Old Gaol, Museums Victoria (Scienceworks), Heide Museum of Modern Art, Her Place Museum, the Jewish Museum of Australia, and Linden New Art. These roles have given me broad experience spanning curation, exhibition delivery, and visitor engagement.
My academic background includes a Bachelor of Business and a Bachelor of Arts (History and Politics) from Monash University, followed by Honours in History, where I researched Renaissance Florence and studied abroad in Italy. I have also undertaken fieldwork in South Africa, Rwanda, Turkey, Belgium, and France, which deepened my understanding of global histories and how they are represented in cultural institutions.
When I’m not in the museum, you’ll usually find me exploring new cities, sketching architectural details, or visiting museums and galleries around the world. Each visit becomes a point of inspiration that informs my evolving curatorial vision and commitment to inclusive, engaging storytelling.
Welcome to a curator’s lens on art and culture—where history comes alive!
